High Risk Pregnancy

Pregnancy risk rates weeks 0 to 6. (High Risk Pregnancy) These early weeks mark the highest risk of miscarriage.
A woman can have a miscarriage in the first week or two without realizing she’s pregnant. Weeks 6 to 12.
Weeks 13 to 20. By week 12, the risk may fall to 5 percent. That said, although high-risk pregnancies do require more frequent ultrasounds, an estimated three in four pregnancies are low-risk.
Experts recommend that additional scans should not be used unless necessary or for recreational purposes to provide a sneak peek at baby. There are also useful tests beyond ultrasound.


How are high risk pregnancies monitored?


Doctors will check your blood for signs of anemia (low iron levels), blood sugar levels, including signs of infection. Urine tests: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common during pregnancy. Untreated, they can lead to kidney infections that can cause preterm labor and low birth weight.
